Una cerveza and the new 2018 Audi Q5, por favor!

The Audi Q5 was unveiled just last week at the Paris Motor Show, but The Car Guide is already packing its bags for an exclusive preview of the vehicle at the new model’s assembly plant in San José Chiapa, Mexico. In fact, the next-gen Q5 will be made at a brand-new Audi facility—the brand’s first in North America. New vehicle, new plant and new sub-contractors. Once operations are in full swing, Audi expects to assemble more than 150,000 units here annually.

The Q5 is Audi’s luxury compact SUV and one of the most important models in its portfolio, considering the increasing popularity of this segment. In the future, the Q5 will be available in several different versions, but the initial offer will be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo engine. There’s also talk of a new 3.0-litre six-cylinder, while both the Hybrid and SQ5 are scheduled to return.

The new Q5 will be available as of April 2017 as a 2018 model. Its price will be announced at a later date. Like The Car Guide’s Facebook page for photos and videos of the launch and check back in a few days for our full test drive report.
