Chevrolet unveils reworked 2017 Sonic hatchback, sedan
Chevrolet is continuing to overhaul its model lineup, introducing refreshed versions of the Sonic hatchback and sedan that will go on sale later this year.
The 2017 Sonic's front end most closely resembles the 2016 Volt and Cruze, and the upcoming Bolt EV and Cruze hatchback, thanks to its version of Chevrolet's signature dual-port grille.
Other new additions to the Sonic for the 2017 model year include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Chevrolet's MyLink with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 4G LTE with WiFi hotspot connectivity, LED daytime running lights, a rearview camera, and available heated seats and steering wheel.
The 2017 Sonic retains the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 138 horsepower and 125 lb.-ft. of torque, and comes mated to either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.
Fuel economy numbers aren't yet available, though the 2016 model is listed at 8.5 L/100 km in the city and 6.2 L/100 km on the highway with the six-speed manual.
The unveiling of the new Sonic comes hot on the heels of the launch of the 2016 Spark, and is the ninth new or redesigned model to hit Chevy dealers this year.
