2017 GMC Acadia starts at $34,995 in Canada

The GMC Acadia isn't just shedding pounds for the 2017 model year, with the automaker announcing the now-midsize crossover will start at $34,995 when it goes on sale—$2,525 less than the 2016 base model.

Set to hit the market this spring, the 2017 Acadia is seven inches shorter and 700 lbs. lighter than its predecessor as it drops from the full-size to midsize crossover segment, while still offering three rows of seating for as many as seven passengers.

The Acadia's new proportions are also reflected in its pricing, with the 2017 version starting at $34,995, down from the 2016's sticker price of $37,520.

Pricing breaks down as follows:

  • Acadia SLE FWD: $34,995
  • Acadia SLE AWD: $37,995
  • Acadia SLT AWD: $47,295
  • Acadia All Terrain AWD: $49,390
  • Acadia Denali AWD: $54,695

Pricing and size aren't all that's new in the 2017 Acadia, with the crossover coming powered by a new 2.5-litre four-cylinder or an available 3.6-litre V6.

The former gets an estimated 8.4 L/100 km on the highway and 10.7 L/100 km in the city.
