Recall Notice for the Chrysler 200, the Jeep Cherokee, the Jeep Renegade and the Ram ProMaster City

Transport Canada recently announced a recall notice regarding a problem with the nine-speed automatic transmission of certain FCA models.

In some cases, the transmission wire harness could have been improperly crimped, and as a result, the lever could unexpectedly shift into neutral. If that happens, the vehicle would obviously lose its motive power, which could lead to an accident.

At this time, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has yet to determine how to fix the problem.

The affected models are the 2015 Chrysler 200, the 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee, the 2015 Jeep Renegade and the 2015 Ram ProMaster City. In total, 35 355 units are being recalled.

In addition, 1034 units of the 2015 and 2016 Jeep Renegade have also been recalled for an improperly assembled trailer tow hitch, an optional feature on the SUV. The affected vehicles will be inspected by the dealership, which will install missing fasteners to the tow hitch assembly.

Owners of the recalled vehicles will be contacted by the manufacturer, but we can also check if the recall affects our vehicle on FCA’s website.
