More Air for the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD
Sending enough air in an engine is no easy task. Engineers work tirelessly on any new vehicle’s aerodynamics to make sure its powertrain receives enough air to breathe and be cooled down properly.
With the heavy-duty trucks, it’s even worse: since these vehicles work hard, they need more and more air. To make sure their Duramax diesel engines will breathe easily, Chevrolet just added a ram-air (no relation to another truck manufacturer!) scoop on its HD Silverado. Sixty percent of all the engine’s oxygen will come from this opening. This new scoop is also fitted with a water/air separator designed to make sure the Duramax won’t get flooded when it rains.

The other 40% of the engine's air intake still comes from the tube in the truck’s fender. Thanks to this, the Silverado HD can run even if one of its air intakes is completely blocked.
Additionally, the ram-air intake on the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado HD looks amazing, which is always a nice bonus.
