One Million Hybrid Lexus Vehicles Sold

The magical threshold of one million hybrid vehicles sold has recently been hit by Lexus.

It took 11 years for the brand to achieve this milestone. The manufacturer says that they sold their millionth hybrid vehicle—a NX 300h in Milano, Italy—last March.

Lexus started to sell hybrids in 2005 with the RX 400h. Throughout the years, other models followed: the HS 250h—first hybrid compact from Lexus—and the CT200h, the second best-selling car from this automaker. Today, Lexus has no less than six hybrids on the market.

The most popular is the RX, with 250 000 sales since 2005. The CT sold 267 000 units, but it has only been on the market since 2011.

North America is Lexus’ number-one market for hybrid vehicles with 345 000 units sold. Toyota wants to reduce its CO2 emissions by 90% in 2050, so Lexus’ recent achievement is a step in the right direction.
