Nissan Titan Warrior Concept: The Warrior Of NAIAS

What do you get by crossing a race truck, a spaceship and a diesel engine? The Nissan Titan Warrior. Shown at the Detroit Auto Show, the aggressively styled truck looks like what would happen if the Japanese automaker would develop a rival to the Ford F-150 Raptor.

Based on the Titan XD’s chassis, the Warrior received a significant suspension upgrade including sway bars, suspension arms and remote reservoirs for the shocks. Compared to the regular XD, the truck is eight centimetres larger, seven cm higher and sits on 37-inch tires. Futuristic fenders are added to cover all this rubber, while a unique grille, new LED headlights and custom taillights all add up for a very mean-looking vehicle.

Engine-wise, the Warrior Concept uses the Titan XD’s stock 5.0-litre turbodiesel V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. This may not sound as futuristic as the truck’s look, but with its 310 horsepower and 555 pound-feet of torque, this drivetrain should be more than enough to move the Warrior.

When asked what the purpose of this concept was – it doesn’t look quite production-ready –, Nissan says that the Warrior Concept has a clear mission: to remind people that Nissan is in the truck market, and they won’t be content with staying where they are.
