2016 Subaru Crosstrek: We’re Driving it This Week

The Car Guide will be heading out to drive the refreshed 2016 edition of the popular Subaru Crosstrek crossover.

You might have noticed that we didn’t mention the letters XV in its name, and that’s because Subaru decided to drop them. The new Crosstrek receives mild cosmetic revisions that include the front and rear bumpers, headlight clusters and taillights. A new colour called Hyper Blue is now offered, and the alloy wheels on base trim levels have been redesigned.

The Crosstrek’s cockpit gets new upholstery with contrasting orange stitching and a new steering wheel, while the Limited trim benefits from an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen.

This compact crossover vehicle, which is based on the Impreza five-door, includes standard all-wheel drive in addition to a 2.0-litre horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine that develops 148 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission is standard, while a continuously variable automatic is optional. The Crosstrek Hybrid is also back for 2016, which provides lower fuel consumption.

Our impressions of the updated Crosstrek will soon be available on The Car Guide.
