Here Is The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible

Here is a little quiz: what do you get when you cross an SUV that has a reputation for being able to go anywhere, a cute little convertible and typical English humour?

The Range Rover Evoque Convertible, obviously,

There have been rumours about a roofless version of the small Evoque SUV, and while the idea might sound silly at first, it seems that there are enough people who would line up to buy one to justify building it.

So, here is the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible. Available only as a two-door version, the car differs from the regular Evoque thanks to its soft top that folds in 21 seconds. According to the press release, the Evoque’s typical silence is still on the menu.

In case of a rollover, this Range Rover’s occupants will be protected by a deployable crash bar that raises in 90 milliseconds to protect the passenger’s heads.

Since this Evoque is still a Land Rover, it still makes use of the Terrain Response system, an all-wheel drive layout and hill descent control. The manufacturer also states that the aforementioned roll bar will be deactivated during off-road sessions, to make sure there is no premature detonation.

The engine of choice is the same as in the hard-roofed Evoque: a turbocharged four-cylinder displacing 2 litres and pumping out 240 horsepower.

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Convertible should arrive in the middle of 2016. Expect an entry price of around $50,475 USD.
