Porsche Stops Selling The Cayenne Diesel

A few hours after the announcement that Volkswagen’s 3-litre TDI V6 was supposedly equipped with the same cheating device that enabled the 2-litre TDI four-cylinder to pass the EPA’s tests, Porsche Canada just announced that they will stop sales of their Cayenne Diesel for the time being.

This applies not only to brand-new Cayenne Diesel units, but also for used models that may be in dealership inventories; every diesel Cayenne built between 2014 and 2016 is affected.

Porsche mentions that nobody forced them to stop selling their vehicles, the German manufacturer simply wants to make sure their SUV is legal before putting it back on the market. If the cheating device is indeed present, quite a few Cayennes might be recalled.

However, if you own a Cayenne Diesel, don’t panic: your vehicle is perfectly safe and you can drive it without worry.

Audi also announced a similar stop-sale order for their V6 TDI-equipped models.

We will keep you updated on this story as soon as we have more information.
