Porsche reveals first Panamera interior images and canadian prices

Porsche today presented the interior of its Panamera four-door gran turismo. The much-anticipated addition to Porsche’s lineup will go on sale  in Canada on October 17, 2009.

With a centre console that extends from the dashboard to the rear seats, the Panamera offers a new spatial concept for the driver and passengers, featuring individual cockpit-like spaces. A deep seating position and sport steering wheel give the driver and passengers direct contact with the road. Panamera also provides a roomy environment with exceptional leg- and headroom – unique qualities in a sporting machine, yet essential for grand touring.

Panamera S and Panamera 4S feature eight-way power seats in front with a driver memory package. In the rear are two individual seats with a folding rear console. The Panamera Turbo adds an electronically adjustable steering wheel. Further seating customization is available through options such as 18-way adaptive sport seats and adjustable eight-way power rear seats.

Individual seating allows for optimum passive safety. In the event of an accident, front, side and curtain airbags protect the front occupants, while standard rear side airbags protect those in back.

Porsche will provide countless opportunities for individual customization, with 13 colour and material combinations – including four two-tone leather interiors and seven interior trim options including carbon-fibre and natural olive wood. A four-zone climate control system is also available.

For the first time, an ultra-high-end surround-sound system from Burmester, the renowned Berlin audio manufacturer, will be available. The system features 16 speakers and a subwoofer for a total output of more than 1,000 watts. Like all Porsches, Panamera will be available with a Bluetooth phone interface, Universal Audio Interface for personal audio devices, and satellite radio.

The rear luggage area provides up to 445 litres of space, enough room for four large suitcases. The tall space enables luggage to be loaded in an upright position, and with the rear seat folded, the luggage space increases up to 1,250 litres.

Initially, Panameras will be available with a choice of two V8 engines, standard seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) double-clutch transmissions and rear- or all-wheel drive. All engines feature Porsche Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) for highest efficiency. For additional fuel savings, all Panameras include an engine stop-start function that can turn off and restart the engine at certain times, like when stopped at an intersection. 

The rear-wheel drive Panamera S has a 400-horsepower, 4.8-litre V8 engine that can propel it from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds on its way to a top track speed of 283 km/h; the MSRP is $115,100. The all-wheel drive Panamera 4S receives the same powerplant. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, achieves a top track speed of 282 km/h and has an MSRP of $120,300.

At the top of the lineup is the Panamera Turbo, with a 500-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 4.8-litre V8. Also featuring the new PDK transmission, the all-wheel drive Panamera Turbo sets a breathtaking 0-to-100 time of 4.2 seconds and a top track speed of 303 km/h. The Panamera Turbo has an MSRP of $155,000.
