Bentley Is At A Crossroads

It seems that English manufacturer Bentley has to make a difficult choice: do they want to go toe-to-toe with the best sports car makers in the world, or do they want to line their coffers with money?

Here’s the problem: Bentley only has enough money and resources to develop one new model at a time. It could decide to build a production version of the EXP 10 Speed 6, the sleek sports car that was unveiled in Geneva last year. Bentley previously stated that if there was a demand, it would build the Speed 6 (and there obviously was… I mean, just look at the car!). It would be a 2-seat sports car capable of stealing sales away from the most expensive Porsches and even some Ferraris.

However, Bentley could also decide to develop a new SUV that would slot in under the Bentayga (which is still set to arrive next year). While it’s almost certain that this type of vehicle would be lucrative (just ask Porsche and their Macan/Cayenne!), the appeal of a sports car and its aura is quite tempting.

The brand’s director, Wolfgang Durheimer, said that he was mulling over the question and should announce a decision soon.
