First Information About The Hyundai Creta

We already reported that Hyundai was on the verge of launching a new sub-compact SUV to challenge the Mazda CX-3, Honda HR-V and Nissan Juke. This new vehicle, the Creta, will be sold in India before being sent worldwide.

Hyundai India just provided the first information about this new vehicle, as well as a few images. They show a very squared-off vehicle, which makes us think of the Tucson.

The truck will be built on the HIVE platform; according to the manufacturer, it is lightweight, safe and solid.

For the Indian market, two engines are available: a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with 150 horsepower on tap paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and another engine with the same displacement but sipping diesel; it generates 128 horsepower, and can be optioned with an automatic gearbox.

The Creta comes with 17-inch wheels, a six-speaker sound system, six airbags and LED turn signals.

This new Hyundai will be on sale starting July 21st in India, and it will be built locally. Expect the North-American version to be built elsewhere.
