Hyundai Will Be The First To Offer Android Auto

Hyundai just scored a decisive victory in the in-car technology war: the Korean manufacturer is the first to offer Android Auto in one of their vehicles. The 2015 Sonata is now available with an infotainment system developed by Google.

This idea will be appreciated by everyone who is already familiar Android’s interface, since roughly the same screens are displayed in the car.

To use Android Auto, you just need to physically connect your phone to the car (using the provided cable). Your applications –like GPS, your phone’s contacts and various others– are automatically transferred to the car’s 8-inch touchscreen. Furthermore, the phone is then placed in sleep mode, preventing you from tampering with it while you drive.

While Hyundai is the first manufacturer to use this system, it won’t be the only one: Ford, GM, VW and Honda have already stated that they will offer the system within the year.

And if you are part of Team Apple, don’t fret: Hyundai will also offer CarPlay as soon as it is available.
