2016 Viper ACR: Return Of The Racing Snake

When the original Viper ACR was launched in 2008, it was created with a unique purpose: to offer maximum performance while retaining the Viper’s street legality (there was also the ACR-X, a race-only version). With firmer suspension, significant weight reduction, a front splitter and a huge wing generating 545 kilos of downforce at 240 km/h, the Viper ACR was fast enough to beat the Nürburgring record for the fastest production vehicle in 2008.

Today, Dodge announced the latest iteration of the Viper ACR during a small ceremony. To make sure the car stands up to its name, it receives numerous aerodynamic upgrades, huge 15-inch ceramic brakes, a 10-position adjustable suspension and Kumho Ecsta tires, which were specifically designed for this car.

According to the manufacturer, this Viper will be able to generate up to 1.5g in lateral acceleration, its 8.4-litre V10 boasts 645 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque and its top speed is around 284 km/h.

Deliveries start around the end of 2015, and we already can’t wait for it to run around the Nürburgring.
