Jaguar XF R-Sport Black: One Last Hurrah For Jaguar's Cat

It might not look like it, but the Jaguar XF has been with us since 2007. In the automotive universe, that’s long, and it’s even worse for luxury sedans, since they have to be at the forefront of technology. This is why, after a mostly successful career, the sporty British sedan will finally be phased out.

But it won’t go without a last hurrah; Jaguar has decided to offer a new version of the XF. Named the XF R-Sport Black (not to be confused with the sporty family-hauler, the XFR-S Sportbrake), the car will offer $16,200 worth of equipment, but will cost only $4,000 more than the regular R-Sport model. Part of the package includes 20 inch wheels, sport seats, a high-quality leather interior and a 770-watt Meridian sound system.

Since the car comes with a turbocharged four-cylinder diesel developing 200 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, we can guess that we won’t see one on our roads anytime soon. However, we hope that Jaguar will do a final edition of its big cat here.

As for the future of the XF, we will have to wait for the New York Auto Show (which starts on April 1st) to see what the next English sedan will look like. We don’t know much about it, but we can speculate that it will be larger than the outgoing model.
