2015 Land Rover Discovery Unveiled

The Land Rover Discovery has always been an alternative to the bigger (and more expensive) Range Rover in the LR lineup. While being smaller and more manoeuvrable, it offers the same kind of off-road capabilities and comfort as its bigger brother. For 2015, Land Rover unveiled the latest version of the SUV that was originally launched in 1989.

First of all, we can see that the Discovery has lost its slab-like design and followed in the tire tracks of the Range Rover towards a more modern and aerodynamic look. The vehicle also features optional xenon headlights and integrated LED daytime-running lights.

The interior is simple, but well-made. An 8-inch infotainment screen sits on the dashboard, the shifter was inspired by recent Jaguar products (it's a knob that you turn to select your setting) and we can see a huge moonroof, that will undoubtedly be optional. And while the Discovery can be ordered in a seven-seater configuration, the third-row seats are not very spacious: Land Rover suggests that they shouldn't be used for long periods of time!

The new Disco will be powered by a 2 litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine developing 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque. This power will then be sent to all four wheels (obviously) through a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

We can expect the 2015 Land Rover Discovery to hit dealerships early next year, and pricing should start at around $37,995 US.
