Roger Rodas’ Widow sues Porsche

Kristine Rodas, the widow of Roger Rodas, has decided to sue Porsche over the Carrera GT that Paul Walker and her husband died in.

According to her lawyers, the car was not travelling at more than 150 km/h, as was stated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff, the California Highway Patrol AND by Porsche’s own engineers, who had access to the car’s computers. The woman claims the Carrera GT was travelling a much more reasonable 88 km/h.

She then goes on to say that the Porsche (which was a legally registered vehicle, and as such had been extensively tested by the NHTSA) was unsafe, because it lacked a safety cage and security features inside the fuel tank. The plaintiff also claims that a suspension part was faulty, sending the car careening into a tree. Then, the fuel leaked, resulting in a fire that killed both men.

No mention is made of the autopsy report, which proved that Rodas and Walker were dead when the fire started to spread. No mention of the tires on the car, which were those installed by Porsche 9 years ago, either.

While this a typically American plot twist, it’s kind of sad that we have to go through this tragedy all over again just to prove that Porsche is not responsible if people drive over the speed limits with their car…
