2013 Dodge Dart GT To Appear At Detroit Auto Show

Dodge will be adding a new trim level to the Dodge Dart compact car for 2013.  The 2013 Dodge Dart GT will provide performance-seeking shoppers with a sporty version of the car that many had speculated would originally be called the R/T.

Under the hood, the Dart GT features the most powerful engine available in the small Dodge sedan's lineup, a 2.4-litre 'Tigershark' mill sourced from Fiat that makes use of that automaker's MultiAir technology to squeeze 184 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque from its four cylinders.  Transmission choices remain the same as those already offered with the Dart, which means a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.  A more agile suspension system sits underneath the Dart GT, and it also gains fresh 18-inch aluminum wheels and a few exterior trim tweaks.  The vehicle's passenger compartment is replete with Nappa leather.

The 2013 Dodge Dart GT, which will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week, will slot in as the most expensive version of the sedan - for now.  Dodge is still being cagey about the fact that the R/T version of the car could become a reality, leading to speculation that a turbocharged edition of the 2.4-litre Tigershark engine would power that particular model.
