Lincoln MKC Compact Crossover To Be Unveiled In Detroit

Lincoln will be bringing a new compact crossover to the 2013 North American International Auto Show, according to a report by The Detroit Bureau.  Dubbed the Lincoln MKC, this vehicle predictably makes use of the Ford Escape platform, which is the latest small SUV in the FoMoCo lineup.

Just how different the Lincoln MKC will be from its Ford Escape counterpart remains to be seen, as few details have been released concerning the MKC itself.  Recently, the brand has been criticized as offering Ford luxury at Lincoln prices, and as being unable to offer a unique identity with which to market itself to premium-seeking shoppers.

A pair of EcoBoost engines is likely in the MKC, of the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter variety, and styling should at least adopt the broad front grille that has become the touch point for current Lincoln offerings.  The MKC has been tapped to hit showrooms as early as 2014, where it will also be joined by a replacement for the Lincoln Navigator full-size SUV.
