Throwback Thursday: Motoring TV in the beginning!

Before Motoring TV there was as a TV pilot, designed to hopefully convince a network to air the program, in this case on the new Canadian Sports Network, known as The Sports Network, TSN.

This was 1997, and I did not know Bill or Jim .

Graeme was on board as host of Test Drive.

How I met Graeme is a good story.

I phoned the CAA looking for someone with automotive experience, Graeme answered the phone, it was that simple, or maybe I just got lucky!

However, I still needed a mechanic and host.

We auditioned a good friend of mine Phil Godin to for the host position.

In the end, Phil, a radio announcer, became the ‘Voice” of Motoring TV and we are still best friends, I got the job by default.

We eventually found Bill and thankfully TSN said “let’s do it”

The rest, as they say, is history.
