Marc Lachapelle

Now in his thirtieth year as an auto journalist, Marc Lachapelle joined Le Guide de l'auto after establishing himself as a motorcycle writer and photographer. He was long the auto expert at Affaires Plus magazine and Journal Les Affaires as well as a regular contributor to the Wheels section of the Toronto Star. He helped develop and launch both MSN Autos web sites in Canada in 2000 and was their editor-in-chief until he rejoined Le Guide de l'auto in 2008. He remains a regular contributor to the MSN Autos US site.

Marc became the first journalist from Québec to win the Journalist of the Year award from the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) in 1994 and won it again in 2005. He was the first to receive the Most Professional Journalist award in 1996 and the first winner of the Photography award in 1999. He is one of the directors for both the AJAC Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year awards programs and also serves on the International Engine of the Year awards jury.

After a brief stint in motocross where he raced up to the Expert level, Marc graduated from the Spénard-David F2000 racing school, ran his own car in the Honda-Michelin series, competed in the 24 Hours of Mosport for five consecutive years and entered a number of races as a guest driver. He successfully drove the first hybrid-powered car at Targa Newfoundland in 2007 and 2008 and then took home a Gold Plate and a second Churchill trophy in his third year.

In addition to regular appearances on the Guide de l'auto television show, Marc also contributes articles, features and reviews to the eponymous magazine and the Car Guide web site.
