Geneva 2010 : An important show for the French

Apart from their own auto show held every two years, in an alternate fashion with the show in Frankfurt, French automobile manufacturers consider the Geneva Motor show to be just as important to them, notably because of the planetary media coverage of this event

Novelties and concepts

Citroën, Peugeot and Renault manufacturers will certainly take advantage of this opportunity to present the different models already offered on European markets. Added to these, the unveiling of new products and concepts that preclude the forthcoming of new series’ models.

In Europe, rally competitions are extremely popular. In this area, French manufacturers are strong, notably Citroën, the king and master of the field. The Geneva Motor Show will be the perfect occasion to remind visitors of their main exploits at rally competition.

Citroën in Geneva

The most important revelation by Citroën will no doubt be the world première unveiling of the “DS High Rider” concept. Second in a series made up of a trio with the “DS” name, spread through the C3, C4 and C5 lines. This three-door coupé concept, benefits from very fluid lines which probably announce the future Citroën DS4. A diesel hybrid motorization is grouped under the hood.

As for rally, lets take a look at the very special edition of the “DS3 Racing”. Offered in exclusive colors, in grey and orange, both inside and out, this ultra sport version of the DS3 model, is equipped with a four cylinder 1,6 L 200 HP turbo. This arch enemy of the Mini Cooper/Cooper S, also comes in multiple variations, in order to deal more efficiently with the iconic British automobile.

Peugeot in Geneva

Although the people from Citroën and Peugeot present more and more novelties that are not clones of Mitsubishi products, the little geniuses at Peugeot have devised a most interesting concept vehicle, by the name of  “5 by Peugeot”. This large intermediate four-door luxury sedan would be the successor to the older and doubled 407 and 607 lines.

The high brass people at Peugeot have just given themselves the mandate to change, even rejuvenate the style of their different models, for more attractiveness. These changes will become apparent with the unveiling of the “SR1” concept. This Roadster is defined as a three-seat car powered by a hybrid-diesel motorization. On this occasion, the company will announce the composition of it’s new logo.

Renault in  Geneva

Obviously, the Renault people have decided to concentrate their activities on the bandwagon of the coupé-convertible. We will thus discover the “Wind” model. A small car in the sub-compact category, with a retractable hard-top roof, shortly due on the market. In only 12 seconds, you can go from coupé mode to convertible. This two-seater is reserved for the European markets.

The Mégane coupé-convertible was already in existence in Europe and now Renault is ready to repeat the formula, but this time, starting from the last version in this line, which appeared in 2008. The new Mégane CC will benefit from a rigid retractable glass roof, installed in 21 seconds. As standard equipment, a wind deflector and an anti swirl net.

Yes indeed, I am looking forward to the pleasure of circulating, for the first time, through the halls of the 80th Geneva International Motor Show.
