Mercedes F800 Style Concept : Hybrid or fuel cell driven
The style of this vehicle reminds us of the seductive Mercedes-Benz Classe CLS, the elegant four-door coupé which accomplished no less than create a new niche on the international auto market.
Appearing in it’s second edition, this F800 Style Concept model will pursue along the same lines.
Five seat coupé ?
The Mercedes-Benz F800 Style Concept model can accommodate up to five passengers, but with one passenger in a tight position, at the back.
This vehicle is accessible through regular opening front doors and through sliding back doors.
The futuristic style dashboard regroups extremely well positioned controls, with an HMI interface system managing different multimedia technologies. Furthermore, this system can be linked to the “Cam-Touch-Pad” technology approach, which digitalizes the driver’s hand and keeps it memorized, so that, with his voice, the driver can control the different connectivity options offered through the HMI interface.
And that is not all there is, for this concept vehicle can almost drive itself. The “Distronic Plus” system it is equipped with can take control of the vehicle under 40 km/h, effecting steering changes, accelerations and controlled braking. An approach that could be quite interesting, notably when we are caught in heavy traffic.
Hybrid or fuel cell engine
This beautiful laboratory on four wheels comes in two distinct versions propelled either with hybrid or fuel cell motorization.
On the hybrid side of things, the Mercedes-Benz F800 Style Concept regroups a 300 HP V6 atmospheric direct injection engine and an electric motor, providing an extra 109 HP to this already impressive cavalry. In all electric mode, it’s autonomy can be of 30 km, at a speed of 120 km/h. It goes without saying that the slower the speed, the longer the autonomy. This vehicle can run to 100 km/h in only 4.8 seconds. According to the manufacturers figures, this car boasts a fuel economy of 2,9 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 68 g/km.
On fuel cell side of things, engineers at Mercedes-Bentz have also come up with a fuel cell propelled version, the same one as on the Class B Mercedes
“F-Cell”. Compared to this one, our newcomer is equipped with a 136 HP with a 214 lb-ft torque, evidently with a fuel cell system, but also equipped with four hydrogen tanks, allowing for a autonomy of 600 km instead of 400 for the “F-Cell”. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is done in 11 seconds.
