2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Now on Sale in Canada

It’s The Car Guide’s Best New Car of the Year, and General Motors has just opened their order books for the Canadian market. The Chevrolet Bolt EV, a fully electric vehicle that offers a driving range of up to 383 kilometres, will be on sale at a starting MSRP of $42,795 before freight and delivery charges.

That’s before applying the government incentives in the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia, where the Bolt will first be available. The little five-passenger car will find its way into the dealerships of all the other provinces within the next year.

In Quebec, the incentive amounts to $8,000, while B.C. residents get a $5,000 credit, which can rise to $8,250 if they trade in a vehicle eligible to be scrapped. However, the province of Ontario is the most generous, allowing a credit of $12,839 towards the purchase or three-year lease of a Bolt LT, and $14,000 for the Premier trim.

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV is equipped with an electric motor that develops 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque as well as a 60-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. With a 240-volt charge station, the Bolt can be fully recharged in about nine hours.
