Apple Looking to Buy McLaren?

The last few days have been abuzz with one particular piece of news: Apple was in talks with McLaren for a complete takeover.

We all know that Apple has toyed with the idea of making their own cars for a while. Usually, the best way to get into such a big game is to buy one of the players. It thus made sense that these rumours could have had some validity to them.

A MacLaren in our future?

A day or so into the furious reports, the people from Woking, Surrey in the UK put an end to the rumours. It is clear though that Apple is interested in McLaren for its technology and outright brilliance, but a complete takeover is not in anyone’s plans.

We also all know that Apple has stockpiles of cash all over the place (roughly $232 billion USD) so purchasing Mount Everest is not entirely out of the question. McLaren is evaluated at between 1 billion and 1.5 billion pounds ($1.3 billion and $1.95 billion), pocket change in other words.

Some analysts figured that an Apple purchase of Tesla would be a good fit. However, it would seem that the creator of the Macintosh will take a longer road to making mobile vehicles. They are currently in talks with Lit Motors, a company that makes an electric self-balancing motorcycle.
