Canada's Concours d'Elegance

Every warm-blooded car enthusiast was all over social media a week ago as the highlights of Monterey Car Week and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance overloaded their feeds. If you missed it, we’ve got pictures of The Quail Gathering 2016 for you.

Southern California might be a long drive for most of us north of the 49th parallel. For those of us in central and eastern Canada, making our way to the Cobble Beach Concours D’Elegance can be driven to in only a few hours.

The Cobble Beach event may only be in its 4th year, but it has already been recognized as one of, if not the most prestigious classic-car event in Canada. This year’s gig takes place on September 17th and 18th at the Cobble Beach Golf Resort in Kemble, Ontario. It’s a 2.5-hour drive from Toronto, but from what we gather, well worth it.

This year’s crop of cars promises to be memorable. On top of the countless extremely rare and desirable classic cars will be supercars such as a 2014 McLaren P1 and a 2011 Lotus Exige S 260. The star attraction of the show might very well be F1 legend Ayrton Senna’s Lotus 99T.

One of the new features for the 2016 edition of Cobble Beach is an emphasis on marque-specific classes or categories consisting of one type or brand of car. Think Corvette, Porsche, Aston Martin and many more.

What is also interesting about the event is that many collectors are Canadian and unlike Pebble Beach, you don’t need to be Jay Leno or Adam Carolla to get access to people and their cars.
