The Cadillac Escala Concept and the Future of the Brand

This weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Southern California is shaping out to be another incredible event. Among the sea of cars on hand are not only priceless classics, supercars and hypercars, but also a handful of concepts including this stunning Cadillac.

The Escala is meant to be a showcase or a window into Cadillac’s future design theme. You might agree with me when I say that current Caddys are the best looking in a very long time and if the Escala is the future, then I’m all for it.

Upon closer inspection, there are hints of British and German styling cues mixed in with signature Cadillac front and rear fascias. The rear ¾ view might be the best way to appreciate this gorgeous car. On top of its dramatic lines, the Escala, Spanish for scale, is also a test-bed for future technologies and interior design.

The Escala is meant to be GM’s luxury brand future flagship, sitting atop the current and impressively executed CT6. The 4-door sedan is six inches longer than the CT6, but has been designed to be both a driver’s car and an indulgent flagship automobile.

Powering the remarkable vehicle is a twin-turbo, 4.2L V8. No word on the output, but I’m certain it’ll be sufficient. In all honesty, the only thing wrong with the car is its name…
