A Recall for ZF

What has nine speeds and must be recalled?

Around half-a-million vehicles equipped with a ZF gearbox!

Previously, only some Fiat Chrysler Automobiles models were involved; now, the recall has been expanded to cover a large array of vehicles fitted with this transmission.

According to the German parts manufacturer, vehicles from FCA, Honda and Land Rover should be recalled to repair a problem. The issue originated from ZF, but the repairs will be performed through the manufacturers' dealerships.

The affected models are the 2014-16 Jeep Cherokee, 2015-16 Jeep Renegade, 2015-17 Chrysler 200, 2015-16 Ram ProMaster City, 2016 Fiat 500X, 2014-17 Range Rover Evoque, 2015-17 Land Rover Discovery Sport, 2015-17 Acura TLX (V6) as well as the 2015-16 Honda Pilot.

On those models, wirings going to a particular sensor might have been insufficiently crimped. This could cause the computer to take a false reading and suddenly shift the transmission into neutral.
