2017 Ford GT Service and Maintenance: Not for Everyone

If you look quickly at the 2017 Ford GT, you might be tempted to think it isn't that technologically advanced: after all, it shares its engine with a F-150 pickup, right?

As you may guess, it's a little more complicated than that. Every dealer that wants to service the GT will have to invest at least USD$30,000. And it gets worse.

First, the dealership has to buy a specific trailer that will be used to ship the car to and from the customer's residence.

After that, they need to think of a way to lift the GT. Since the hydraulic lifts can't go low enough (and could actually damage the carbon tub), the dealer needs four special dollies that can raise the car a little bit so it can then go on a regular lift.

Finally, the part of the workshop where the car sits will need to be corded off, and only the approved technician is allowed inside.
And if any kind of major repair must be done, somebody from Multimatic (where the car is built) will have to be flown in so he can do it.

This may seem like a lot of precautions, but it's actually pretty standard in the supercar world.
