Integrated Light Bars for the Ford Police Interceptor Utility

Check your mirrors: the Ford Explorer Interceptor is now even harder to spot. Its flashing light bar is now integrated into the upper part of the windshield.

Opinions are divided about unmarked police cars: some like them because they help catch speeders. Others think hiding the people that are supposed to serve and protect us is a bad idea.

The hidden light bar isn’t new. Aftermarket companies (and some regional agencies) are already using them. But Ford’s solution is more visible.

By removing the lights off the top of the SUV, the vehicle now blends in even better. This is one of the reasons which motivated Ford’s engineers to change the location of their light strips. Since the top of the windshield isn’t tinted, the blue and red lights are more visible from the exterior.

Colour-wise, agencies who buy the Ford Police Interceptor Utility can choose between blue and red, completely red or completely blue. Furthermore, the intensity can be dropped by 20% or set on automatic mode.
