2016 Chevrolet Spark: We’re Driving it This Week
The Car Guide is heading to downtown Montreal for the Canadian launch of the newly redesigned Spark minicar. According to General Motors, the event will showcase how the smallest car in Chevy’s lineup is the perfect vehicle for first-time buyers, and how well it’s suited to the urban jungle.
We’ll be hitting the road with a “student lunch budget,” which means we won’t be treated to a seven-course meal. A Big Mac is fine with us.
Getting back to the car itself, the 2016 Chevrolet Spark’s base MSRP has recently been announced at $9995 before freight and delivery charges of $1600, making it the more affordable car in Canada as these lines are being written.
It comes standard with 10 airbags, a rearview camera, a MyLink infotainment system with seven-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration in addition to OnStar 4G LTE on-board Wi-Fi (which requires a subscription fee). Obviously, GM is seeking to please a young and connected crowd.
The new Spark is more powerful than the outgoing generation. Its 1.4-litre, four-cylinder engine produces 98 horsepower, up from 84 hp, and is said to be more fuel efficient as well.
