2017 Alpina B7 xDrive: When Bavarian Luxury Isn't Enough

BMW's high-performance M division modifies almost every model in the manufacturer's lineup: from the small M2 to the big X6 M as well as the legendary M3 and M5, there is something for everyone.

Well, almost. If you want a high-performance version of the 7 Series, M can't help you. You'll have to ring up Alpina.

Sold through BMW dealers and backed by a warranty, Alpina's cars are usually just as fast as the M and are more comfortable.

This is Alpina's latest creation, the B7 xDrive.

The big sedan differs from the stock version by unique bodywork (front splitter, rear bumper, beautiful 20-inch wheels...) and exclusive colours, like the blue in the above pictures. Alpina Green is also offered.

Power comes from a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 which sends 600 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels. This is enough to propel the sedan to 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.4 seconds.

Interior is superbly fitted with Nappa leather, a hand-stitched steering wheel, a leather dashboard and a plaque ensuring the car's provenance.

The Alpina B7 xDrive will arrive in American dealerships next september.
