2016 BMW M2: We’re Testing it this Week

The Car Guide is en route to Monterey and the awesome Laguna Seca raceway to try out the new 2016 BMW M2. And we’ve got to admit that we’re more than just a little bit excited about it. As the spiritual descendent of the 1M coupe, the M2 boasts a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 4.4 seconds thanks to its turbocharged 3.0L inline-six with 365 horsepower and 343 lb.-ft. of torque.

The M2 coupe also comes with an active differential expected to effectively control wheel slip and allow you to exit corners at rocket speed on the track. In terms of appearance, the M2 makes its aspirations clear with a wider body (front and back), 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Supersport tires and—especially—an aggressive front treatment with broader air intakes.

In back, the bumper diffuser is immediately noticeable, along with the taillight design that’s reminiscent of the BMW M4 Coupé. We’ll also be testing the X4 M40i on the roads of the Monterey Peninsula and be introduced the MINI Cabriolet in the L.A. area. Cue the song “California Dreaming!”
