Here Is The 2016 MINI John Cooper Works Convertible

Want to forget about winter for a while? MINI just announced the first pictures and the technical specs for the 2016 John Cooper Works Convertible.

Just like before, the recipe is simple: the brand’s engineers took a convertible MINI and added a few performance components to it.

First of all, the engine: under the hood of this MINI sits a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine developing 228 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. This is a 20-hp upgrade compared to the outgoing version – and 39 more than the Cooper S. This is enough to get the MINI to 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.6 seconds if you chose the manual transmission – or you can hit that velocity 0.1 second faster if you prefer the automatic.

Handling is enhanced by adjustable dampers, an electronic locking differential, retuned assisted steering and a set of Brembo brakes.

The car’s look also differs from an ordinary MINI by its larger front air dams, LED headlights and unique green paint job. The retractable soft top can retract in 18 seconds, and features the English flag.
