Here Is The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC

While it  was scheduled to be unveiled at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January, Mercedes-Benz wanted to reveal the newest iteration of its SLK, which will change names for the occasion: meet the 2017 SLC.

First of all, while the car's silhouette it pretty similar, it received a few new touches: the front fascia gets a new bumper, a rounder grille decorated with a diamond pattern and updated LED headlights. At the back, we spot a new bumper, LED taillights and a dual exhaust. Finally, the top has been re-engineered, and can now be operated at speeds of up to 40 km/h.

A large selection of engines are available for the SLC throughout the world, but only two will make their way to our side of the Atlantic. Base versions will get a turbocharged 2-litre developing 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough to get the SLC up to 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.7 seconds.

The AMG version is back, but it lost an important part of its aura: gone is the large V8, replaced by a twin-turbo 3-litre V6 generating 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque; it should be more frugal than the unit it replaces, but it is also less powerful.

Regardless of the version, the 2017 SLC will get a large array of safety and entertainment technology; after all, it's still a Mercedes-Benz!

We will have more information about pricing and a release date as soon as the car will be unveiled at the NAIAS.
