Mercedes-Benz Reveals The New C-Class Coupe

After the redesign of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan last year, it's the Coupe's turn to get a makeover. It will obviously boast a sportier character than its four-door counterpart, with lines inspired by the big and beautiful Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.

Compared to the outgoing generation, the new C-Class Coupe features a longer hood, with a 60-mm stretch from the firewall to the front axle. With a low roofline, a high beltline and frameless doors, the compact coupe definitely boasts a family resemblance to the other two-door models in the German manufacturer's line-up. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe also has a suspension that's lowered by 15 mm compared to the sedan.

The interior also gets a much-needed redesign, and now offers the luxurious and high-quality ambiance that's found in the sedan. With a wheelbase stretched by 80 mm and overall width increased by 40 mm, the C-Class Coupe's cabin will obviously be more spacious, with more shoulder and elbow room for every one of the four passengers.

The standard suspension can be upgraded with a sport suspension, what the company calls a comfortable AGILITY CONTROL setup, as well as AIRMATIC dampers. Six engines will initially be offered worldwide in the Coupe, yet the North-American market will likely mimic what's available in the C-Class Sedan. That means a 241-hp, 2.0L turbo four cylinder and a 329-hp, 3.0L twin-turbo V6, both feeding their muscle to the pavement through a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. A Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe should also be introduced shortly with a 503-hp, twin-turbo V8.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe should arrive in the spring of 2016.
