Mazda KOERU Concept to Make World Debut at Frankfurt Motor Show

Since the demand for crossover utility vehicles isn’t about to cool down anytime soon, Japanese manufacturer Mazda will be unveiling a brand-new concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Of course, the Mazda KOERU concept was styled using the brand’s KODO – Soul of Motion design language and, according to Mazda, it “expresses the power and vitality of a predator along with a unique level of refined dignity.”

“KOERU” is Japanese for “exceed” or “go beyond,” but so far, Mazda hasn’t gone beyond publishing a sketch of the new concept vehicle, and didn’t reveal any additional details regarding what type of platform or powertrain would hide beneath its skin. Mazda did mention that it will be using their latest SKYACTIV technologies which, for the moment, are limited to four-cylinder engines. Whether the KOERU is expected to replace an existing model in the company’s line-up – like the aging Mazda CX-9 – or cover a new market segment remains to be seen.

The Frankfurt Motor Show will be open to the public from September 17th to 27th, but the Mazda KOERU concept will be officially uncovered during the press days on September 15 and 16.
