A Sub-Compact SUV For Hyundai: The Creta Is Announced

The sub-compact SUV market was virtually nonexistent a few years ago. Now, every manufacturer is trying to get into the segment: from the Chevrolet Trax to the Nissan Juke to the Honda HR-V and the Mazda CX-3, there will shortly be a full array of vehicles to choose from.

The next manufacturer to enter the fray will be Hyundai. In a recent press release, the Korean automaker announced their intention of building a sub-compact SUV this year.

We don’t know anything about it yet, but we hear it will be sold in India before being sold worldwide and should be known as the Creta (in reference to the Greek island).

If Hyundai follows in other manufacturers' footsteps, they could base their vehicle on the Accent’s platform. However, it’s also possible that they could be working on an all-new platform.
