GM Will Also Use Android Auto

While Hyundai won the race by being the first manufacturer to offer Google’s new Android Auto infotainment interface in their Sonata, GM wants to be #1 in terms of sales. Starting in 2016, no less than 14 Chevrolet Products worldwide will be available with this system.

Around half of all Chevrolets sold around the world will have the updated infotainment system according to the manufacturer; the Cruze, the Malibu and the Silverado 1500 and HD (among others) will be available with Android Auto.

And, unlike Hyundai, Chevrolet won’t limit itself to Android; CarPlay will also be available for everyone who prefers Steve Job’s phone.

Sadly, all your phone’s functionalities won’t be accessible; only those which have been approved by GM’s engineers will work. For example, on Apple phones, Siri will be able to guide you via GPS, call someone or even read your text messages; however, said messages won’t be shown on the screen to make sure you keep your eyes on the road.

CarPlay and Android Auto will be available in 2016 Chevrolets.
