Want A Survivor Hemi Cuda?

If you want to own a brand-new classic car, there are two ways to do it : either you restore a tired example, or you search far and wide to find THE perfect, low-mileage example of the particular vehicle you want.

If the second option sounds more appealing, I have the deal of the century for you: how about a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda with only 81 ORIGINAL miles on the odometer?

No, that is not a typo. This beautiful Mopar has not been driven more than 130 kilometres in 45 years.

The story of this car is interesting: In 1970, a man decided he wanted to go drag racing. So he went to the nearest Plymouth dealership and spent his hard-earned money on a new Hemi Cuda with almost no options, but the biggest possible engine and an automatic transmission. Our lucky owner then ran a full season of racing, making about 30 passes at the drag strip. Sadly, he passed away before he could race again. The Hemi Cuda then spent some time in the hands of his widow before being sold in the eighties with only 42 miles on the odometer. It then passed through the hands of various owners before finally receiving a carburetor rebuild and a short test-drive to make sure everything worked properly.

The car will be sold at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis in May; the experts expect it to go for around $800,000.
