Nissan Begins 2016 Maxima Production

If you were thinking about trading in your older full-size sedan for something more modern, you will be happy to learn that the 2016 Nissan Maxima has just started rolling off of the assembly lines. The production car was launched at the New York Auto Show, and the Smyrna, Tennessee plant just began building enough vehicles to satisfy demand.

Nissan markets the 2016 Maxima as a four-door sports car; its true that with a 300-horsepower V6 engine, the car will probably be fast in a straight line.

The Maxima's new lines are not for everyone, but they have the merit of being unique. The base version -named SV- starts at $37,720 and receives 18-inch wheels, leather seats and GPS as standard equipment. Regardless of the trim level, you will get a CVT gearbox sending the engine's power to the front wheels; there is no all-wheel drive system or manual transmission available.

You will have to wait a few months before being able to take the 2016 Nissan Maxima for a test-drive, however. The manufacturer expects them to hit dealerships sometime this summer.
