Here's The Cadillac CT6's Engine

We already know that the upcoming Cadillac CT6 will be a full-size car that will compete against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. To make sure it will have sufficient power, it seems that Cadillac is moving away from the ancestral tradition of stuffing a big V8 under the hood of its flagship sedan. It will instead offer it with a twin-turbo V6, which we can see here.

Displacing 3 litres and pumping out 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, this is one of the most efficient V6 engines ever, with a ratio of 133 horsepower per litre. For added fuel economy, it will feature cylinder-deactivation and a Start/Stop system, which shuts the engine off when the vehicle is not moving.

Cadillac mentions that this engine is more powerful than BMW’s 3-litre found in the 7 Series (315 horsepower) and the supercharged 3.6 litre in the Audi A8 (310 horsepower).

This engine will be built at the Romulus factory near Detroit; it will eventually be followed by a new generation of GM’s ubiquitous 3.6-litre V6, which is found in pretty much everything they make.

And if you think this new CT6 won’t be a true Cadillac without a V8, don’t despair; the V version hasn’t been announced yet.
