VW Group Unveils The Sport Coupe GTE Concept

VW just showed us an all-new concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Inspired by the ''four-door coupe'' market which is gaining in popularity, the brand showed the Sport Coupe GTE Concept, a modern vehicle which gives us an insight into where Volkswagen intends to go styling-wise.

This concept looks great: with its grille placed low in the front fascia, LED headlights incorporated into said grille, sweeping roof and large wheels, the Sport Coupe GTE instantly gained a big fanbase on the show's floor. Since VW already offers a ''four-door coupe'' in the CC, it stands to reason that this car might eventually benefit from the concept's styling cues.

Under the car's hood sits a V6 and two electric motors. Total power output is stated at 380 horsepower, which is enough to help the car reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.2 seconds while still being frugal enough to sip only 2 litres of fuel per 100 km. It also means the concept could theoretically go 1,000 km on a single tank of gasoline.

The interior is all modern, with a TFT screen that replaces the old analog gauges. This technology was launched a few months ago by Audi, and since this brand is owned by VW, the manufacturer will probably use the technology in its upcoming vehicles.

The Volkswagen Sport Coupe GTE is just a concept for now, but it stands to reason that some of this car's styling might end up on regular production models.
