Return Of The Shaker For The 2015 Dodge Challenger

Last year, Dodge resurrected the legendary Shaker option, which consists of a large air intake that sits on top of the engine and sticks up through the hood. The original was born in the '70s, feeding cold air to the big HEMIs of the era. This add-on not only gave the cars more power, but it also created an interesting visual effect; when you floored the throttle, the Shaker rumbled and shook, as a reminder of all the power that was lurking under the hood.

The modern-era Shaker was offered last year on the Challenger R/T. However, while the original was half-business, half-style, this new interpretation was purely visual and didn't offer any increase in power. Dodge still managed to sell all the limited-run models in 4 days, which shows exactly how well nostalgia sells.

Dodge will offer a new batch of Shakers for 2015, and they decided to go all out; not only will they offer it on the Challenger R/T with its 5.7L HEMI V8 (385 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque), but the Shaker will also be available on the glorious 392 HEMI Scat Pack, which means the 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque from the 6.4L HEMI engine can now benefit from some cold air.

If you want to get one of these limited edition 2015 Challengers, act quickly. You can order an R/T right now, and the 392 HEMI Scat Pack should be available this spring.
