A Few Updates On The Honda Civic Type R

The countdown before the launch of the next production-ready Honda Civic is ongoing. After showing prototypes all year, the manufacturer has now started teasing us with partial shots of what will be the next super-Civic. We will be able to see the final version of the Civic Type R at the Geneva International Motor Show, but in the meantime, we can examine these first shots which show the vehicle's aerodynamic pieces.

First, the front bumper has a very aggressive lower lip. Since the Type R is front-wheel drive, it will need all the front downforce it can produce, and this part should help. An underbody panel will also be fitted to the car, in an effort to reduce air buffeting under the vehicle. A set of side mouldings will help the car eliminate unwanted air flow, and a large wing will be fitted to the rear hatch.

Performance numbers have not yet been announced, but we know that the turbocharged 2-litre engine will be powerful enough to propel the Type R up to 270 km/h. To help it slow down, 350 mm brake discs will be used.

We can't wait to see this Civic at the Geneva Motor Show.
