Ford’s Next Interceptor

After unveiling the new Explorer in Los Angeles a few months ago, Ford is now about to release the Interceptor version (for police work) onto the unsuspecting public.

In the last few years, police departments have been buying SUVs for specific applications. They might not be great for hot pursuits or for patrolling in congested city centres, but they can haul an impressive amount of gear, can tow and even go off-road, to a certain extent. We see more and more Tahoes and Explorers entering police fleets, especially in the United States.

In the above picture, we can see the front end of the next Police Interceptor Utility, which will be launched at the Chicago Auto Show next week. The model’s specifics have not been disclosed yet, but they are not important for the general public; the only thing we have to worry about is that the emergency lights are hidden in the front fog lamps and mirrors. So take a few minutes and memorize this light layout; if you see it in your rearview mirrors, it would be wise to pull over to the side of the road and keep your hands on the steering wheel.
