Power Output For The 2017 Ford Raptor Unveiled?

The all-new Ford F-150 Raptor got more than one performance aficionado talking when it was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show; with its aluminium body panels and Ecoboost V6, there was speculation that this new truck would not be as fast as the current, V8-powered Raptor. Ford wanted to quell those rumours, stating that the Ecoboost would be more powerful than the outgoing V8. However, they wouldn’t give us any exact numbers on just how powerful it would be…

During an interview at the 24 Hours of Daytona, Ford Global Product Planning Vice-President Raj Nair unwittingly announced the New Raptor’s power output: we now know that 450 horsepower will be available to the driver.

Add to that the fact that the 2017 Raptor will be 226 kg lighter than the outgoing model, and the fact that the new vehicle will boast a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and this Raptor is shaping up to be one of the fastest pickup trucks ever produced.

We will have to wait a bit before driving this new beast, however; production is starting in Autumn 2016.
