Build The Engine In Your Corvette Z06 Yourself

With the last generation of the Corvette, enthusiasts – real ones – had the opportunity of participating in an important event in their car’s life: anybody who bought a Z06 or a ZR1 could go to the assembly plant where their engine was made, and actually take part in the build of their LS7 or LS9 V8 mill. Since these engines were normally made by hand by technicians, it wasn’t very hard for them to let customers work on the engines while they were assembled.

The plant where these V8s were made, in Wixon, was moved to Bowling Green, where the Corvette is produced. This simplified the build of the cars, but it created a problem for the Corvette Engine Build programme.

This problem seems to have been resolved, which means that Corvette lovers will once again be able to build their own V8s. They only have to select the correct option (which costs $5,000 US, by the way). They can then travel to the Corvette assembly plant, and assemble their very own 650 horsepower LT4 under the supervision of engineers.

However, they won’t be able to install the mills into their cars right away. Since the production line is working full-throttle to produce cars, they will have to come back at a later date if they want to finalize the assembly themselves.
