Nissan Will Unveil Next-Gen Titan In Detroit

On January 12, Nissan will present the next iteration of their Titan full-size truck. The Japanese manufacturer has targeted the Detroit Auto Show to launch their pickup trucks (an excellent decision, since they wouldn't be relevant in Japan).

The Titan has never been a strong seller in its segment; it's not a bad vehicle per se, but in the pickup world, perception is everything. And for a lot of buyers, Nissan doesn't rhyme with truck.

To change this, Nissan decided to partner with a company whose name is synonymous with power, strength, durability and America: Cummins. We don't know much about the Titan, but the video shown above has already confirmed that a diesel engine built by the legendary supplier will be found under the Nissan's hood. This would make it the only Cummins-equipped 1500 truck on the market: Ram has had a long history with Cummins, but they only offer their engine in HD trucks; the 1500 EcoDiesel comes with a VM Motori mill.

Nissan also wants you to know that their truck is as American as apple pie: it was designed in California, developed in Michigan, tested in Arizona, assembled in Mississippi and will receive engines made in Tennessee (apart from the Cummins mills; they come from Indiana).

More information will be available on January 12, when the Detroit Auto Show opens its doors. The Car Guide will be there to cover the event.
